24-26 Chalet Road is a unique regenerative project that is part of a larger scale environmental change, caused by extreme generational storm damage. In 2021 extreme winds hit the east facing slopes of many forests in victoria, knocking over swathes of trees. At this particular site the winds took an entire slope of Mountain Ash. Once the site was cleared, careful onsite mapping of newly exposed rock features and ledges combined with the survey helped map the new garden pathway routes. With the canopy opened up, new high light levels created the opportunity for regeneration. Indigenous and native plants have been brought in while also allowing native plants to emerge from the seed bank to manage weeds. The rockwork, steps and ponds were built by Pacific Australis Landscapes with careful stone placement skills in this new and widely vivant garden.
